From beaches to carnival: Boa Vista in february between sport, party and nature.

The month of February 2025 gave Boa Vista an explosion of energy and vitality, confirming the island as one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Cape Verde archipelago. Between sporting events, cultural celebrations and ideal weather conditions, Boa Vista confirmed itself as a must-see place for travellers of all kinds.

Kite Camp 2025: record success for Kitesurfing

From 6 to 12 February, Boa Vista was the star of Kite Camp 2025, an event that attracted kitesurfing enthusiasts from all over the world. The beaches of Praia de Chaves and Praia de Estoril saw athletes and amateurs compete in the crystal clear waters of the Atlantic, taking advantage of perfect weather conditions: constant winds between 15 and 25 knots and mild temperatures of around 23°C.

The event not only promoted kitesurfing as a sporting discipline, but also contributed to the local economy thanks to the presence of more than 500 international participants, with a significant spin-off for restaurants, accommodation and tourist services. Local kitesurfing schools recorded a 30% increase in bookings compared to the same period in 2024.

Why is Kite Camp important for Boa Vista?

  • It attracts high-level sports tourism;
  • It reinforces the island’s image as an ideal destination for water sports;
  • It brings direct benefits to the local economy, increasing demand for accommodation, restaurants and excursions.

Boa Vista Carnival 2025: a triumph of music and colour

If February is synonymous with celebration, Boa Vista Carnival is its finest example. On 26 February, the streets of Sal Rei came alive with spectacular parades, flamboyant costumes and overwhelming rhythms.

The celebrations were attended by thousands of tourists, who were able to attend the main parade along Avenida 4 de Julho, where local carnival groups performed choreographies inspired by Cape Verdean culture and environmental themes.

The highlights of Carnival 2025

  • The competition of the best samba schools with performances charged with energy;
  • The “Noite dos Mascarados”, an evening dedicated to traditional masks and dancing in the square;
  • Side events, including tastings of local food and live music performances.

The event had a significant economic impact, with hotel facilities registering an 85% occupancy rate, up 15% on the previous year.

Perfect Climate for Tourism

February in Boa Vista offered ideal weather conditions: temperatures between 20 and 25°C, with low humidity and very little rainfall. This favoured:

  • Hiking in the Viana Desert, one of the most fascinating landscapes on the island;
  • ATV and 4×4 trips to discover the most remote beaches;
  • Snorkelling and diving among pristine coral reefs.

Conclusion

February 2025 confirmed Boa Vista as a top destination for sports, cultural and nature tourism. With events such as Kite Camp and Carnival, the island not only attracts visitors, but creates a sustainable and growing tourism ecosystem.
